Overview

Bècê-lothi Bî was founded durring the early 13th century in spring of the year 1241, by Zlêreshèj Trëmënka. The establishment of Bècê-lothi Bî was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Bècê-lothi Bî's construction back out of the project. Zlêreshèj Trëmënka pushed on reguardles, and Bècê-lothi Bî was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Bècê-lothi Bî was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the early 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Bècê-lothi Bî is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Bècê-lothi Bî is buildings folow an organic layout of restrictive split-log ties streets whihch gives the town a shape simmilar to a tree, if one views its streets from above. The town is protected by a humble stone fence which is tall enough to provide adiquite cover for defenders to fire from, but no more than that. The town's peasent-grade are visibly old, but also obviously well maintained. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with routine mantance of the town's defences.

Bècê-lothi Bî has the unmistakable air of a town on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Whatever industry once fueled Bècê-lothi Bî ’s existence has dried up and the town is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up. Likely due to this, Bècê-lothi Bî is, in a word, disorder. People seem to be allowed to do as they please with little harmoney to anything. It feels less like a town, and more like a spot people just happened to have homes. One cannot help but wonder what Bècê-lothi Bî was like during the glorydays.

Civic Infrastructure

Bècê-lothi Bî has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Bècê-lothi Bî. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Bècê-lothi Bî's parks.

Bècê-lothi Bî has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Bècê-lothi Bî has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Bècê-lothi Bî's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Bècê-lothi Bî possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Bècê-lothi Bî's grid is powered by hydrogalvanic generators.

Bècê-lothi Bî has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Bècê-lothi Bî's natural decorations nor waterways.

Bècê-lothi Bî has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Bècê-lothi Bî's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by vertical proportions, pointed arches, external buttressing, and asymmetry in the general shape of its buildings. The decorative features of the style were key, consisting of large arched windows, pointed arches, vaulted ceilings, flying buttresses, and sculptures integrated into the structure itself. Occasionally, for very important buildings, an array of sculptures or one colossal sculpture might replace the entirety of the entrance to said building.

In Bècê-lothi Bî sometimes, near one of the seasonal solstices, the sun appears to split into three and it rains from a clear sky for several hours.

The Slithering Pit near Bècê-lothi Bî are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Bècê-lothi Bî's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves square dance to channel Chronomancy energies of tier 3 via throat singing.

History

Bècê-lothi Bî is in secret rebellion against their ostensible liege, having cut deals with his enemies, plotted to betray him for their own gain, or bridled under his tyranny and sought a better lord. The community’s leadership is all in on this plot, and outside viceroys or representatives are being kept carefully ignorant of the reality. The common folk may be oblivious to the truth, though they’ll doubtless have felt the same motivations and promptings that convinced their leaders to turn traitor.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century Bècê-lothi Bî was struck by a devistating earthquake. The quake brought ruin to Bècê-lothi Bî, which lost 298 people, 195 livestock, and 75 buildings in the earthquake. The day of the quake is remembered by many as Heartache's Day.
